Frozen application

By lawkaanat ·
Lately, my pc suffered from an constantly frozen task called "ThorConnWinClass". I do not know which application is related to that task. Norton Crashguard intercepted it most of the time, but I'd like to remove the related program or find a hot fix. I've post this question on MS News Group and got no answer. Please, can you help me out ? Thanks.

The key to errors with applications is in your Windows registry, there are two things you can try to find the problem application.

1) From the run command line in the start menu run "regedit" (type: regedit). Use regedit to run a search for the string "thorconnwinclass" if it doesn't find it try "thorconn") you can run a search by clicking the edit tab and selecting find. If the search turns up a match look at which folder it is placed in and track the folder back to the folder with the application name ( this will be the app that is giving you trouble.

2.)Most likely your application that is giving you a problem is running in the system tray. To find this run the | START | PROGRAMS | ACCESORIES | SYSTEM TOOLS | , click on the TOOLStab and select SYSTEM CONFIGURATION UTILITY, then click on the STARTUP tab. Scroll down the list and see if you can find a string that matches your APP.

Hope this helps,
Bob....email me fore more info...if I wasn't clear enough.

Go to start, run and type msconfig. Go to the startup tab and look for this application in the list. Disable it if you find it.

Open with notepad file (see for your location) "C:\Program files\Norton CrashGuard"\CGStats.CG
Then find your ThorConnWinClass in keys like this one [00000001], [00000002], etc. Find application path caused error and then find and remove field of it from registry (ANY FIELDS of it).

Go to Windows explorer click on tools and
find file or folder. Type in thor and click
on find. Delete any referance to that program. Then use regedit and do the same.
reboot and see what happens.
I would also check if something has created
an autoexec.bat or config.sys file in your
root dir. Windows does not need those files
unless you are running a program that requires them.
