FTP Folder Error

By robert mckenly ·
Hi, I want to setup ftp on my computer for sharing files with my friends, but I don't know how (could not get it to work). I use Windows XP Pro SP2, linksys router BEFW11S4, DSL with dynamic
ip. So far I installed internet information services (IIS). I already setup a free services dyndns.org with a user name and password. Setup (ddns) in my linksys router to update ip with dyndns.org.

Now I need to setup the FTP on my computer so my friends can access.I don't want to use other ftp software, just the native IIS.

The problem is when I typed ftp://name.ftpaccess.net for example, I get a FTP Folder Error:

"Windows cannot access this folder. Make sure you typed the file name correctly and that you have permission to access the folder. Details: The connection with the server was reset."

Please anyone can assist, I will be mostly appreciated !!!

Firstly if your router is anything like mine, you will not be able to access the ftp from inside. (E.g. Any pc that uses that router to connect to the outside world)
To get round this, you would have to type ftp://servername/directory. You still might get permission denied, but you won't get the connection with the server was reset.

Ensure the folder that the ftp is pointing too has anonyomous access. That way anyone can connect. Else try www.developerfusion.co.uk/scripts/print.aspx?id=4660 if you require user security access
