FTP from Unix to Windows95 thru serial c

By davidg ·
I have a Unix machine that I need to pull some Unicode files off of. I have a Windows95 machine networked to it thru serial cables. I think that I can either FTP the files off or I can put them on a Tape. I just need to know how to FTP thru serial cables. Or I need to know how to backup the files on tape and restore them on a Linux machine. I would appreciate any help I can get.

You have two options. Figure out how to configure DCC connections on your UNIX system (Microsoft describes how to do this for Win95 at support.microsoft.com (search for "null modem", include the quotes). I suspect you will have an easier time using WinRAR or WinZip to span the files to floppy and copy them manually. These utilities can be found at www.tucows.com

If you use a terminal emulation program to login to your user box you can try this way......Login to unix navigate to where the file is and type in "sz <filename>" Without the quotes. The sz stands for send the file zmodem. Conversely you can userz <filename> to send a file to the unix box. rz is just recieve zmodem. This works with most versions of unix but not all.
