FTP Issue “Server has closed the connection”

In using IIS 6.0 or any other ftp app., when I try to connect after configuration I get the error “Server has closed the connection” without any other explanation or error code. However, in checking the FTP logs, it indicates an established connection.

From work, I still can’t pull up the FTP site. Any ideas?

BTW, I do receive a log-on box externally.

You may find that only certain IP ranges are allowed to connect.

Thanks…but I’m using a custom unassigned range with filezilla. I completely uninstalled IIS but getting the same error…

Downloaded Smartftp which seems a little more configurable but same issue.

Firewall

Take a look at the firewall on the FTP server it may be filtering FTP connections.

The firewall is off. Would there be any other ports that needs to be opened on the router? I’ve been able to connect internally but not externally. All I get is a the log on box.

You need to make sure you have TCP 20 & 21 for FTP.
