Full step from Start to End Handling a Project

Anybody knows what is the best practice step to start a new Project?
For example:
-What document should I create for first time
-How to calculate the time
-How many human resources i need

    First and foremost, when starting a new project, you'll need to create a <a href="http://pm.stackexchange.com/q/2/34">Project Charter, Vision and Scope Document</a>. The project charter document describes the responsibility and authority given to the project manager, what the roles and responsibilities are of team members, and defines boundaries of those roles. The Vision and Scope document defines the business case for the project. It also describes features, requirements, and a high-level overview of proposed solutions. Both documents target a non-technical audience.

    You can find a list of templates at <a href="http://pm.stackexchange.com/q/1305/34">Project Management Templates</a>. There you'll find templates for the documents I've described, as well as many others.

    Calculating the time estimates and determining what resources are needed for the project will involve collaboration with managers and technical personnel. The best way to get estimates is to involve both parties. The technical team has the best knowledge of what is involved time-wise in completing a project and the management team will have time constraints they'll want to place on the project.

    You'll need to mediate and figure out how to balance the time goals with the functionality goals. For instance, will senior management be willing to cut some features to meet a certain deadline, or are they willing to extend the deadline to include all of the features.

    Another tool and approach to starting and executing a project is to use "Projects in a Box." As I remember, the Projects in a Box website guides you through the entire project process. The tool is MS Word based. Also check out the PRINCE2 website. As opposed to the Guide to the PMBOK, PRINCE2 is more of a step-wise methodology for project management. Use the Guide and PRINCE2 together and your projects should be successul. You may also find that PM documentation is often iterative. In other words, don't get too bogged down trying to have complete documentation of your projects upfront. If you properly educate your team, they can help. My 2 cents.

    PMI has explained project management from beginning to end. The first step in a project is the creation of the project charter by the sponsor. This document formally authorizes a project, and contains milestones, high level budget, schedule, risks, sponsor, and measurable objectives. Then, the project management plan is prepared, project is executed, monitored, and closed. During closing, deliverables are handed over, lessons learned documented, project review, and procurement closed.
