getting cd-rom to work in IBM dockII

one of my user's is triing to get his 755c
thinkppad to work on a dockII with a newer
btc 44x cd-rom.it is running w95b , when put in the dock the cd comes up as audio . have tried an older scsi with same results .
bios has been flashed to latestrev .

If you start the system up in "command prompt only" mode (hold down the CTRL key just before windows starts - this shows you the win95 boot menu on bootup). Install the dos based cdrom drivers. Restart the system and get into the "command prompt only" mode. If the cdrom drive works fine then you know it is a win95 driver problem, but if it doesn't then you know that it is a hardware problem.

I don't expect a hardware problem here.

I'd take this specific up with IBM. They should be happy to get you answers on this one..

if you load the dos drivers it will make the cd-rom woek in windows also you just won't have the auto play reature.
