Getting VPN to work with Proxy Server

By nick ·
We are running NT 4.0 SR-PK 5. We have Proxy Server 2.0, and we are running RRAS. Our problem is that we cannot get the VPN packets to move around the Proxy. We have read and implemented all of the Microsoft papers on the subject and added the threefilters to allow the packets to route around the Proxy but everything dies once it hits the external NIC card. ( Oh, by the way we have 2 NIC cards, one for the internal network and one as a gateway to the internet.
The purpose of the exercise is to allow remote users to dial in, by pass the Proxy, and access our UNIX host which is a member of our NT domain.

Getting VPN to work with Proxy Server

Hi Nick;

Just a couple of questions / assumptions.

1) Do you mean VPN - as in routing two networks together - or VPN as in tunelling into one network from a workstation?
2) Do you have any port limitations on your network?
3) What is the IP range of the servers (ie is it a private IP address?)
4) Can you ping the a) Proxy Server b) the unix server from outside
5) What client are you using to connect (ie W95)

Thanks,

David

I see you did not answer any of the above questions. Have you updated your drivers are you using SP 6 now. What has changed since you posted this? Are you still having a problem?
