GroupWise Attachment Window Transparent

By mmoorhead ·
My GroupWise 5.5 Windows client displays
a transparent window where the attachment window should be, both when creating a new message and when receiving a message with an attachment.

Any Ideas?
Thanks

GroupWise Attachment Window Transparent

by Kevin M. Hirahara In reply to GroupWise Attachment Wind ...

Hello,

I have seen this occur under Windows NT and Windows 2000 Professional only a few times using the GW Client 5.5 version, SP4 (My department has gone through a few thousand GW client installs and this has occured only a few times).

I amnot sure of the exact cause but... In order to correct it we laid out the following steps:

1.) Uninstall the GW 5.5 Client via Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel. Remove All of the GW apps listed, not just the client portion - there may be several listed there (Conversation, Marquee, etc).

2.) Reboot.

3.) Reinstall the GW 5.5 Client.

4.) Reboot.

The intermediate reboots are necessary (even though it may not Say to Reboot your system) to clean up temporary files created during the uninstall and reinstall. Without the reboot, you can run into minor Registry Registration errors.

Upon completing these steps as described, and after the final reboot, the funny looking transparent Attachemnt Window reappeared and all was again normal.

The uninstall of the client software will not affect any archives or personal settings on the GW 5.5 mailbox since those are kept on the server, tied to the Unique FID for each user.

I hope this helps.

Regards,

Kevin.

Oh,

The appearance of the funny looking Attachment window has a probability of also occurring under Win 9x, or ME, but we have not yet seen it occur in our organization.

Meaning that, if this same phenomenon did occur on a Win 9x, or ME systems, we would follow the same procedures on order to correct it.

Regards,

Kevin.

Just...

Some of the GW Components you may see in the Add/Remove Programs:

GroupWise 5.5
GroupWise ActiveComponents
GroupWise HTML Support C3PO
GroupWise Tip of the Day C3PO
...

Uninstall all, then reinstall.
