hard disk problem

By linni_babii ·
I suspect that the hard-disk problem is due to a faulty disk and to confirm this I run diagnostics to fully check it and replace it if it fails the test. What should i do?

If you are getting hdd errors, then you yes, most probably having a hard disk drive problem, or a contoller problem that is affecting the hdd. You need to give us as much specific detail as possible about the problem and the errors you are getting (we are not there to see it).

Bad sectors means the hdd is going bad. If you hear clicking sounds or slipping sounds as or just before you get one of the errors, then the hdd is having problems reading data off of the sector.

Backup your data ASAP. Run diagnostics after backing up. Replace the hdd if that is where the problem is. What are your system specifications (are you using an older computer/ newer/ Pentium class/ above/ below, etc). We need more info.

You posted three questions... is this all with the same computer?

I suggest backing up what ever data you have.
Run scandisk (if available otherwise get a 3rd party tool off the net) with a thorough examination. If there are a lot of bad sectors replace your hard drive.
