Hard drive failure

by Info-Safety, LLC In reply to hard drive failure and so ...

Hard drives fail for a variety of reasons, including excessive heat, electrical malfunction -- especially from a power surge, and physical failure, such as when a head crashes into the disc. Since hard drives are not worth repairing, the remedy is replacement. If you have a good backup, this is fairly straightforward, and if you don't you need to decide if what you had on the hard drive is worth the cost of data recovery.

I hope this helps.

Hard Drive failure and recovery

by IT Dedorah In reply to hard drive failure and so ...

I???ve come across an article that gives a pretty comprehensive outline of the causes of Hard Drive failure, the checks you can do to confirm whether it is the actual hard drive e.g. check cable connections as well as information on data recovery and software options.
