hi

Replace it quick

Get a new one and do a mirror copy to it after formating the new one

Your HD is going bad and could die at any time

this is trick question, yes? for pete's sake back up contents immediately without rebooting much. then open pc case make sure no cable in processor fan or something (confirm really drive 'ticking')? you could go to drive mfg website and get diagnostics to help you send in for warranty replacement. some drives 3 yr warranty and don't even need receipt as date is on drive itself

1. get a big, fluffy pillow.

2. place big, fluffy pillow over hard drive.

3. smother hard drive with big fluffy pillow.

* No more "ticking" *

4. Remove big, fluffy pillow intermittently to allow cooling airflow so media does not overheat and cause a fire.

Actually, use the big fluffy pillow to put over the hard drive, then shoot it to put it out of it's misery.
