hard drives writes constantly

By fluharty ·
I have a P4 motherboard, scsi hard drive. The hard drive writes when the computer isn't being used. What causes this? My other scsi system did the same thing. It would just start writing even when it powered down.

Two things may cause this:
First, Findfast-this is one of function come with MS 97. To disable it, first remove it from startup folder, the goto control panel\findfast and disable it.
second, it may be the anti virus software, you installed, it keep scan you hard drive and floppy disk. reconfigure the software.

In additrion to Ans #1, A common problem is not enough memory, The OS then starts trying to write pages out of memory, to the hard drive.
The writing on shut down is a separate problem.
This is caused by the way some power supplies seqence down.
If it is not corrupting the data on the drive you can ignore it.
The first thing to do is check your memory usage.
Regards, Chris
