... in your favourite search engine, or go to wikipedia.org, for example.

One quick way to get the answer is to click Help in Windows Explorer and type in FAT.

Okay, FAT has limitations, some of them removed in FAT32. NTFS allows proper folder security to be maintained.

fat and ntfs are built using two different file structures, now i can't tell you the exact difference but with experiences with both file systems, you will always come out ahead with ntfs, it is a lot more stable, sorry i could not tell you more, but i think the other guy was right google it.
