Health Care Information Technology

By parkerjj01 ·
Does anyone know how to best get involved in an IT career focusing on
Health Care Information Technology. I am an older IT professional/software developer in the process of attaining a degree in Information Technology with a Business Minor. I willcomplete my studies in about 9 months. Is there some other subject matter(other than IT & BUZ) I should focus on to better prepare me for the career change before completing my studies? I understand that the IT opportunities are in the Health Care Information Technology field now.

Well, you might want to look into HIPPA certification.

Here are links to 2 Tech Republic articles with opposing views on HIPPA certs.

With the job market as it is, if you have a HIPPA cert and the other candidates do not, it may give you a better chance.

I currently work for a Healthcare IT company. My background is in MIS and CS. I can tell you that it would be helpful to have clinical experience.
