Help!

By dixieb ·
I have 5 machines on a network running Windows XP. They are connected to another machine that is acting as a server with Windows NT. I have a printer installed on the NT and it is being shared with the other machines. Installed the printer, did several print jobs, no issues. Go back approx 3-4 weeks later and NONE of the machines will now print. I have tried to check settings on them and they all tell me "cannot find boone server" -- Boone is the NT machine. Any suggestions? Thanks...

Dixie

Can they ping the server?

Make sure they can still see the NT server. Can they? Make sure you printer is still available and also make sure that permissions haven't been changed on the printer.

Like what JM said... ping the server first.
What you can do is also check the Ip addresses of all the machine and the NT server. Make sure that they belong to the same class.

If you've done all of this but still can't find your NT server, try restarting the server.

Appears hardware problem with server... replaced hardware and no new issue with it.... seems to be working great at the moment... (for the last month anyway)... Thanks for your input. Really appreciate it... made my brain think a little...
