    help my amd is supposed to go faster

    i think i have a amd athelon xp to 2800 but my computer says i am running at a 1.25 processer speed, did i miss something when i put it in?or did i get the wrong thing? motherboard:elitegroup k7vta3
    memory:ddr 256
    op:xp pro

      You are correct, the Athlon XP 2800 should be running at 2083MHz or 2.083GHz.

      What speed DDR memory do you have?
      You should have DDR2600 or DDR3200 to support the 333MHz front side bus speed required for the CPU.

      Check the position of J3 and J5 on the motherboard. If I’m reading the K7VTA3 manual correctly, (there are 5 different versions of this motherboard) I believe that the jumpers need to be set for 166MHz for your CPU.
      That would be both jumpers to pins 2 and 3.

      With ECS Boards you have to set the speed of DRAM and CPU in the BIOS. It defaults to 100/100. Go into the BIOS by pressing Del during bootup. Find the CPU Setting Group and change it to 133/133 or whatever is applicable to your setup.
