Help with Windows Network.

By bsinghonca ·
Have two windows networked computers, one running Windows200 proffessional and the other running Windows ME, the later cant look into shared files on Windows 2000 computer. However windows 2000 computer can access shared files on Windows ME computer. It keeps asking for password when trying to access from windows ME computer, but the passwords are not recognised.

What should I do so Windows ME can look into files on Windows 2000?

Thanks.

You should ask that question in the Technical Q&A forum, and assign points for answering it. Look at the security permissions on the folders you are sharing on the w2k machine.

Accounts and Services

Win2K will only allow approved access, thus it needs an account, it also needs relevant services and a shared folder to be viewed.

You should create an account on the Win2K machine under the name of the WinME computer and under the name of the User on the WinME machine (use the same password as on the ME machine).

Also check you Win2K services for a service called Share Access Protocal Agent, this should be set to automatic start. Also have a folder shared.
