himem.sys

By jwdj ·
Got a himem.sys error where it says that it is missing. Well I extracted from the cd about a trillion times and every time I reboot it still says himem.sys is missing? Running Win 98, Should I reinstall the OS or what? Any help would be greatly appreciated..
Thanks
Johnny

When you extract it, make sure it gets into the windows directory. :)

Are you getting a confirmation that the file is extracted? The himem.sys file is in the base5.cab file. Instead of using the /a and /e switches just use:

extract /l c:\windows base5.cab himem.sys

instead and see what happens.
