Home network windows 2000 professional

By seshu_kondeti ·
I have two computers on with Windows ME and the other with Windows 2000 Professional, in the home. I am trying to network them and make them talk to each other. But not successful. I installed network card on my windows 2000 workstation. But the WindowsME is OEM pc and comes with its own network card. Can somebody suggest me, how to make it work. Thanks in advance.

First, you would need to configure both network cards with a protocol such as TCP/IP. Then you would need to assign each card with a IP address such as 192.xxx.xxx.xxx with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. If you plan to use a hub then connect both network card to the hub with a patch cable. This should be the basic config to get your machine up talking to each other.
