I finally rid myself of the same trojan horse program that is causing the homepage redirection.
This is what I did:
1. Disable system restore and reboot computer, this deletes the proram which is hidden in the restore files.
2. Run highjackthis and clean out references to findit-online.
3. Run regedit.exe and search for any references to findit-online, ITStore, mk:@MSITStore, and search start.chm for any references there.
4. Enable system restore.
5. Check in internet options security and privacy tabs to ensure they are set to default. Mine had been changed to custom..nil.
6. Check your internet connection firewall to ensure it hasn't been disabled. Mine wasn't, but when it comes to these sort of things...better safe.

FYI. I dealt with a simular situation. Here's something I never really thought of trying.

I went to the website of the search engine and to my surprise down at the bottom of the page they actually had removal instructions. Surely not many of these jerks offer this but from now on I'll at least give that a try. I assume they pay others to run the trojan or whatever to get people redirected to the search site.

You can download and install SpyBot and Spy Blaster. They are both really good tools that help catch this and fix it.

SpyBlaster -- helps stop them from being installed
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/downloads.html

SpyBot -- helps remove them.

They are both freeware...We use these utilities all the time. They are wonderful.

Install Ad Aware free version from www.lavasoftusa.com after install run update.
start pc in safe mode, run ad aware and let it delete everything it finds.
boot normal
install free surfer that includes a homepage lock at www.kolumbus.fi/eero.muhonen/fs.htm this will stop 99.9% of bad pop ups while allowing good one to function.
install start up monitor from www.mlin.net/startupmonitor.shtml and this will tell you anytime a program tries to install on your pc.
Me telling you how to solve it is one way. the best is that while you are at these sites you be pro active and learn what these programs do and how to configure them for your needs.
Also look into Zone Alarm free version
Stay Safe!!
