Hot To Shutdown Without Power Off

By nyrop ·
I use Small Business Server 2011 Standard and Windows Server 2008.

I want to shutdown the system, but NOT power off after the shutdown.

I used to do that on Windows NT4. Microsoft had released an article explaining how to do that. But, for SBS2011 and Windows2008, I found nothing.

I need to do that, because my UPS is scheduled to cut the power at 10:00pm and to restore power at 6:00am. If a computer was powered off when the UPS cut the power, it will not power on automatically when the UPS restore the power.

Thanks for helping.

You can't do that...you need to fix this in BIOS

Shutdown yet powered on is either the state of being Suspended or Hibernated

You don't want your server to do either, ever.

Most computers have a 'power loss state' setting in BIOS that forces the machine to power on after power loss. Even my old Dell workstations have this. Go into BIOS and change that setting.
