How can i get rid of virtual 25gb from my C drive?

By flame06 ·
I do not have enough free space in my C drive. I tried freeing some space by uninstalling some programs and deleting unnecessary stuff but i noticed that the size didn't change that much so i tried to locate what was occupying space. I discovered its located in the "local" folder located in the "AppData" in "users"
C:/users/flame/AppData/Local folder.
The thing is when i check the size of the LOCAL folder before opening it it gives me a total of 38gb but when i open it and check the size of the individual folder put together i get 13 gb.
There are no hidden folders. So where is the extra 25gb coming from and how can i eliminate it?
i use vista.

Have you tried CCleaner?

Formally known as crap cleaner it will get rid of a lot of rubbish on your computer:
http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download/standard (free)

Also try creating a new user account/ profile and then delete your old one.
Make sure to backup your files first!
Many of the files you download, program settings/ preferences and other cache are stored in your profile. Doing this is almost as good as a clean install and you won't loose the programs you have already installed. Don't delete your old account until you have verified that you have everything you need on your new one.
Here's a tutorial on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VDkm9JztB3g
