How can I remove unwanted Startup items?

By Jeffrey.grantz ·
I use msconfig?s Startup tab in windows XP and mark an item so that it does not start with the next boot (I uncheck the box on the item). Some time later I am sure I don?t ever want to start the item, so how can I delete the item from the Startup list completely?

Thanks for any help.

You could edit the registry and delete that key or use the advanced mode of Spybot Search and Destroy to delete the entry.

Microsoft had a free utility called Autoruns. Its have a ton of information, probably more than you want. For a simple view, try msconfig, built into XP. Execute it via the run line.
