how delete creation of unwanted folder

By signart ·
Windows xp home
Each folder I create, another pops up within it, with the same name.
It is always 43,3 kb, and is a shortcut to "My documents.
If I delete it, it pops up next time I open the folder.
How do I delete it, permamently? - stop it happening?
I am NOT very technical!
Not life threatening, but irritating - and confusing.
I have a screenshot. How to show you?

Thank you in advance.

Depending on what's going on here it will at the very least see if you have any infections or not.

Try to unhide the files.

Go to the toolbar - file edit tools help... Go to TOOLS --> fOLDER OPTIONS --> vIEW TAB ---> under advanced settings look for the "hidden files and folders" section, select SHOW HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDERS and check to see if there are any other files appearing aside from the "new folder". I suspect that there are hidden files creating that new folder. Not a virus (since it might not be detected as a virus since it is a script) but still a nuisance.
