How do I change the Registered Owner for Microsoft Office?

    Locked

    by jerry~beans&bytes ·

I was given a used laptop (not worth fixing).
They gave me all the licenses, etc,, but I want to change the Registered To for M$ Office (Word, Excel, etc), to change name to mine.

Anyone done this? Do I need to un-/re-install? Is there an easier way?

there’s no real way to change who the registered owner is for a particular licensed copy.

what you have to do is buy a license [no media]. Then you can change registered owner.

        Hi ,

there,s a way to change registered company in both office 2000 n office xp .
        Office 2000
        [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ Uninstall\{00000409-78E1-11D2-B60F-006097C998E7}]

        Office XP
        [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ Uninstall\{90280409-6000-11D3-8CFE-0050048383C9}]

Change the value of “RegCompany” and “RegOwner” to the required registered company and user names.

Then find the following registry key for your Office version.

        Office 2000
        [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Common]

        Office XP
        [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Common]

And rename the sub-key called “UserInfo” to “OldUserInfo”.

Exit registry and all office application . Restart .
Think It should help you .

This will work but it’s a registry hack

and not really changing the registered owner of the software. The registry edit only changes the display name when you open an Office Application.
