How do I connect with Robotics modems?

By Iulian Costache ·
I have 2 LANs, each with 2 Windows 2000 Servers. Distance between sites is ~3Km. I installed an analog leased line. I also have 2 US Robotics Courier V. Everything External Plug and Play modems (they suport leased lines).
I don't know how to make them work.

Question: Can someone please tell me:
- DIP switch positions on modems
- modem init strings
- if this line is what I need
- what I use on servers to connect the LANs
- servers configuration

PS: I used RRAS with DOD interface butfor some strange reason it didn't work. So tell me what to do or what I do wrong!

How do I connect with Robotics modems?

First u go to routing and remote access on ur machine. Right click on ur local machine icon on left screen and go to properties. There in the general menu u can enable ur comp as a RAS server.

Next go to security and disable all authentication execpt "unencrypted aunthenticaion (PAP)".

Then go to "remote access policies".Right click on the icon on the right window in the explorer ie
"allow access if dial in permission is enabled"
Click on edit profiles and then

disable encryption unless u need it.
disable all aunthentication except PAP unless u need more security.

The problem is the leased line and the fact that the modems didn't answer on incomin call.
