How do I Install Windows XP on a Pre-Installed Windows Vista Computer

I tried to Install Windos XP on my newly bought Laptop that came with Windows Vista and it wouldn't let do that except to format the Hard disk drive, which I dont want to format. Rather, I want to Have 2 Operatng System(OS)or Dual Boot on My Laptop. Please any suggestion?

seperate partions

You need to partion your hard drive, once you have completed this you can then install xp on the other half of the hard drive.

Seeing that you are using a Notebook you will not be able to do it the easy way. I would recommend using a Virtual PC setup and run XP in there. You can decide for yourself if you want to try them they are named Virtual PC 2007 or VMWare. A quick Google will find them for you. Having said that if you download and create this Recovery CD you will be able to use <b>Diskpart</b> to manipulate your Partitions. Be aware that you may have Hidden Partitions and be careful not to erase them. <i>Make sure that you have created your Vista Recovery DVD before attempting this.</i> Follow the directions below and you should be good to go.

The Windows Vista Recovery CD can be used to Boot your PC. Check your BIOS settings to make sure that you are booting from the CD first.
