Any of the Cloning Utilities will do the job.

Things like Clonezilla

http://clonezilla.org/downloads.php

In the free range or Symantec Ghost

Acronis True Image

http://www.acronis.com.au/backup-recovery/

In the pay for Propriety Range can be used. Here it all depends on what it is you want to do and what you want to Backup to and how.

You will need an external HDD on which to clone the your laptop HDD. If you have a spare HDD (preferably with more capacity than the existing internal HDD) you might consider one of these http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=hdd+to+usb+adapter&_sacat=0&_odkw=usb+adapter&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3286.c0.m270.l1313
