How old is my Dell? I have the Asset Tag...

By ladyjul__1 ·
I know there is a link, I used to have it but cannot seem to locate it any more.

Does anyone have the link which allows you to determine the age of a DELL PC simply by providing hte Asset #?

go to this site, click the "technical support" on the left in the blue box. on the next screen, in the middle, click "choose by service tag" and then enter the service tag (which will be a 7-digit code written on a sticker on your dell.) if you can't find the service tag yourself, click the "how do i find my service tag?" link. dell will guide you through the prompts to install an activex control and locate the service tag for you.

either way you go with entering the service tag, once it's entered, click the Go button. the next screen will display a picture of your model Dell as well as the model number itself. on the left of this screen, under "Technical Support" click System Configuration. this will bring up the exact hardware configuration of your computer when it was shipped from Dell and will also tell you the build date.

happy hunting.

Do you happen to know if their is a way to search by Asset # (i.e. Asset Tag)?

This is a 10 digit numeric number also found along side the S/N...
