How to block outgoing mail?

By mpetrone ·
A few days ago my boss told me he wants to block some people's outgoing/incoming mail.

He want to restrict some users to have only internal mail, others may be able to send & receive mail to/from some internet addresses.

We are running Exchange Server 5.5, I know the way to block incoming mail using my firewall SMTP server, but I don?t know how to block the outgoing mail.

Any ideas?.

Thanks,
Mauricio.

On Exchange 5.5, you can configure the Internet Mail Service to accept or reject mail from any particular entry in the Global Address List.

In Exchange Administrator, choose Connections, highlight the Internet Mail Service, then click File-Properties and select the Delivery Restrictions tab. Enter the user names on the Accept or Reject list as appropriate, click Apply and you should be good to go.

I use NEMX power tools to not only filter content and addresses, but it also does a good job of keeping out the .VBS and other viruses/SPAM. www.nemx.com Try the eval, the licenses are cheap! Good luck....
