How to change GUI mode to Text Mode

Hello Linux lovers,

i've installed RH 9 on my pc last week ago. i've chosen GUI mode to 1st login. but i want to use Text mode to learn linux commands. pls kindly help me how to change GUI mode to Text mode again when i'm starting login to my linux.

Use Ctrl+Alt F4, F5 or F6. To return To your GUI mode Ctrl+Alt F7

This behavior are controlled by the file /etc/inittab

Within this file you will find a line that says something like this.
id:5:initdefault:

Change the number 5 to 3. Now save and the next time you boot up your machine will enter console mode (text).
