how to check the password history on cisco switches

Hi everyone ...

how to check the password history on a Cisco switche, not to set the password history. I want to see it in the configuration what was it set to, not to set it.

Unless you've saved the config somewhere as an alternate file, your not going to be able to get that.

Are you asking this because you've lost the password and need to get into the device? There is a way to do it, but it doesn't show you the old password, it just lets you reset it to something new.

On some hardware if you TFTP the config out you can see the password or vpn keys rather than just ****'s like it shows when you do a show run.

the problem am having is that i put a new password (enable secret) on a Cisco L3 switch, logged in & out many times in 4 days & everything is OK, after that i tried to log in with the new password (that i put 4 days ago) i couldn't, i freaked out, this L3 SW is critical, thank god i kept a track of every password, so i tried just the previous one & am in???????????

will it be written in the run config as "set password history"????
cause i tried today using telnet to find such command in the L3 SW, i found nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
