The following configuration is my network and an IP configuration:

Internet IP address from ISP ? DSL Router (Modem)
IP address: 71.xxx.xxx.xxx
Subnet Mask: 255.xxx.xxx.xxx.0
Default Gateway: 71.xxx.xxx.x

DNS2: 68.xxx.xx.xx
It was configured as a bridge

This configuration uses for my Router:

I am trying to configure a win2k8 server in my office.
I'd like to set up my linksys router, and my win2k8 AD/DNS/DHCP server.

When I am installing and Configuring AD DS and DNS

The system tell me ... Important
Before you install AD DS and DNS on the first domain controller server in a new domain,
ensure that the IP address of the server is static;
that is, that it is not assigned by Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP).
DNS servers and Active Directory domain controllers must have static addresses
to ensure that clients can locate the servers reliably.

!!!!! Win2k8 tell me that I am using dynamic IP

Please, someone could help me?

you need to assign a static ip address to the win2k8 server. Also, I would turn DHCP OFF on the router, and use the win2k8 server for dhcp, dns, etc...

by kattowong In reply to Changes

Thank you to answer me, first

If your can look at me previous message. I made the following:

1. DHCP off on my Router
The Router has only the following IP address: 192.168.1.1

2. Assigned to the network adapter on Win2k8: (But I do not know if it is correct)
IP: 192.168.1.2
Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.1.1
DNS1: 68.xxx.xxx.xx == => provided by my ISP
DNS2: 68.xxx.xxx.xx

3. My Win2k8 Server is directly connected to the Router
ISP Modem
Linksys Router
Win2k8
Linksys Switch

4. I do not know if the assignment to my Win2K8 network adapter is correct one

5. When I am installing the AD DN
almost at the end appears the following message
" your server is using a Dynamic IP and your need to use a Static IP"

6. I want to know which is the correct .... static IP that I should assign to my Network Adapter in my Win2k8
