How to configure Remote Acc , FTP Server

By niggiebro ·
A friend of my is trying to start-up a FTP Server using 2000 Advance Server. He's try to set-up an account to allow me to gain access via internet. He is giving me Administrator permissions, should he also give me Remote Access permissions, to gain access to his FTP Server? I tried to gain access using IP address and Port setting to his Server through "My Network Place", by Mapping a Drive, but my system times-out. I also tried a third party software, but still unable to gain access, can anyoneadvise me thank you.

Your friend needs to create a userid and password
under the FTP server's properties with necessary
permissions. You can then enter the FTP server's
URL in your browser and connect to it. At this
point it should ask you for the userid and password which your friend created. Get this info
from him before you make a connection.
Also make sure that your browser is set to logon
with any setting except anonymous logon. You can
access this in your browser(IE)- Tools-options-
security-custom level and then all the way down.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info! But I think the problem he is having is that he doesn't know how to configure the Router the Server is behind.

By chance you wouldn't know how to configure the Router?
