How to configure Vlan

By meghal.shah ·
My name is Meghal. I have one Dlink 1024D switch of 24 Port. I want to know that can it be possible to configure Vlan on D-link 1024D? As i understand that it is a unmanaged swithc it can not be done on that.

Any help will be highly appriciable.

You just answered your own question. If it's unmanaged you can't create vlans on it.

Review the OSI model, VLANs are a layer-3 concept

Switches that are described as Layer-2 switches cannot do VLANs.

Beware that some vendors sell Layer-2 switches that are 'VLAN Aware' or Layer3 Aware, which only means that they can pass the VLAN-tagging protocols related to VLANs.

However a 'VLAN aware' Layer2 switch cannot support VLANs by itself.
