how to disable system restore

By massejp ·
Even if I select the turnoff system restore checkbox of the system restore from the properties of My Computer, the system restore is still working.

Ex. delete c:\windows\twain.dll
the twain.dll disappear
wait 5 sec, refresh the list
the twain.dll re-appear

CAUTION: Disabling System Restore removes all previous restore points. To continue to use System Restore to restore your computer to a previous point, do not disable System Restore.

twain.dll is a dynamic link library for a capture source. If you run Adobe photoshop, th PC will start twain.dll, if you install a scanner, twain.dll, if you use a digital camera, twain.dll.

Why would you disable or delete twain.dll anyhow? It's a tiny process.
Are you having other crashes or lockups that you feel are due to this file?

The Windows File Protection Service is what is keeping you from deleting the file.

Look at:

and

Good luck...
