Is there a way to keep your computer running in peak performance instead of having it slow down after a few months of use and do installing and uninstalling programs slow down a pc and list a way to prevent computer slow down if there is a way?

One of the things I do on a daily and weekly basis are these: Daily; Disk cleanup, adware scan, spybot search and destroy and a virus scan. Then once a week I also do a disk defrag. This keeps the machine free of spy ware, adware and viruses that may occur during normal usage. The disk cleanup keeps the other things that you have downloaded to a minimum. You could also look in the "Internet options" and delete the cookies and history too. The disk defrag will keep everything in order so it runs the quickest, acccessing files in sequential order and not having to seek multiple places on the disk to find one program that would otherwise be scattered about.

As the previous poster has said you need to run the above utilities regularly and you also need to stop installing & removing software as the possibility of corrupting the Registry is way to great.

You can download Spy Boy S&amp from here

Spy Blaster from here

Crap Cleaner from here

Adaware from here

I would also run Defrag on a regular basis most likely daily at first till the system starts getting quicker and then cut back till weekly when the system is performing normally you can find this in the System Tools Folder in the Start Menu generally under the Accessories option.

Also to keep them working properly Do Not Mess with the Software Load when you have just what you need installed leave the system alone and do not proceed to install or remove software keep the software load to the bare minimum.

Everything will work better that way.

Once every month or so, I completely rebuild my systems from FDISK/Format and a reinstall.
It then becomes a pristine lean fast machine. I keep a large folder of all the useful programs I want/need on a spare drive, and reinstall those afterwards.
Total build time is about an hour to get internet active, and a day each for updates and reinstalls.

But this is a cumbersome method. Far better is to image the clean first install, and reimage the drive when you want to go back to that condition.
In the meantime, make backups of things you want to keep that you have added and liked (ie keep the source and data elswhere, on a CD, DVD, spare HD or across a network)
