How to I recover my drive

By parameshst ·
Hi...

I just installed Norton Antivirus Corporate edition AMS Server on my Windwos 2000 controller and when the system restarted at the start up, an eek b virus was found on my e drive's master boot record and i was asked to quarintine, which i continued with. Then when my system was up completely and was not able to access that drive. It gives the error.

E is not accessible

The parameter is incorrect.

i tried to access by booting with 98 bootable floppy but no luck. this dirve has important data whose backup is also not available.

So please help me to access this drive by any means.

Thanks

Hope the advise given has remedied your problem. Boot sector viruses aren't destroying your data they are deleting the reference to where that information is on the disc. If the info is important it can be expertly retreived.

Also microsoft havesome fixes for master boot record viruses.

There are file recovery programs available
e.g.Active@ File Recovery which has a freindly user interface.

You can download a fully working copy from http://www.file-recovery.net/welcome.htm for free, the only limit is the file size.

Thanks Barry, It helped me to get an idea that the data can be restored from a drive whose MBR is corrupt/deleted. However I could not recover the data with this utility it had said it was a demo version with a limitation of 32KB.

Thanks once again.
