How to install a second SMTP-address?

By Kirschi ·
If I have two domainnames that are used for the mailaddress of each user, how can I install the "secondary" mailadress without adding a second SMTP-address explicitly for each user? Furthermore, is it possible to select with which of both mail-accounts a new message is being sent?

You will need to add a secondary SMTP address for each user. The easiest way is to do an export to a .csv file and add it there. When setting the secondary address add a column with the header "Secondary-Proxy-Addresses", copy your user alias to that column and then format it with the second domain. You have to add "smtp:" to the address. Make sure that the "smtp:" is in lower case if that is not the default return address you want for each user. There is a TechNet article that explains this. You can only have one default reply address so it's impossible to do a on-the-fly selection for which address you want as the reply address.
