How To Install SDRAM

This is a simple process
If you have the motherboard manual ref it to see the picture of where slots are located
1)First disconnect the Power Cords from the computer
2)Open the Computer Case by unscrewing the screws that holds the panel to case on the back
3)Once the case is open, look on the motherboard and locate the modules like the ones you have to install
4)There are two tabs on the side that you will push out slightly
5)Insert the module in the slot and push in until tabs snap onto the module at the sides,
look at at the other module to make sure you have the orientated correctly to insert in slot,if you have to force it then you have the module orientation wrong, put in the same way as other modules ,if computer boots up and memory is recognized, then re-attach the panel

The chip is inserted at about a 45 degree angle (to the system board) and then pushed upright until it clicks into place by the two retaining clips. There is a small cutout on one side of the chip. This is because the chip can only go in one way.Good luck.

The full instructions are at:
http://www.hp.com/cgi-bin/cposupport/get_doc.pl?SNI=hppavilion19325&LC=personal_computing&Tfile=bph05592
Make sure there are no spaces in the URL.
Now the important warning.
DO NOT UNPLUG THE POWER CORD!
I assume you have no wrist grounding strap.
In these dry winter months, static is everywhere.
If you unplug the PC power cord, you loose your only ground.
Put the manufacturer's memory package on the bare metal of the case innards, after you have opened thePC's case.
Then open the memory package to remove the DIMM.
Make sure some part of your skin is always in contact with the bare metal of the case. (This provides the function of the grounding wrist strap.)
There is a very good reason the warning is bold type, in the factory instructions about how to upgrade memory in this PC.

Any static discharge will **** the DIMM, and you will have to get another one.

Use the Web Address given. The instructions are way to long to fit in the limited space allowed here.

Regards, Chris
