By Panther007 ·
I am tyring to apply serive pack on NT server but I dont have enough space on the c drive. After extracing the sp6 file on the c drive the c drive runs out of space and is throwing an error that its out of space...is there a way to run (may be witha certain switch) so that it would extract to the d drive and begin installing from there...

HOW TO INSTALL SP6 ON D DRIVE

If you cannot even install the service pack onto your drive, you need to clean it up. The service pack will reload some system files, and add some features to your NT system. Not to mention If you don't have enough space to put on a service pack, you're probably lacking swap space too. (your virtual memory). All in all, you need to have free space for your machine to run smoothly, not just installing SPs and what not. First If I were you, I'd take off (uninstall) programs you never use, then I'd defrag your machine. I can almost guarantee you'll see the performance difference. Then, you should be able to install your service pack. Even If there was a way to do what you're asking, you're asking for trouble by killing off your swap space (unless you tweaked with it and set it up at like 3 gigs) then you need to reset that...
Good Luck.

I assume that you downloaded the service pack and you have it in drive D. Set the TEMP and TMP environment to D. Run the service pack.
