How to keep track of computer time used?

By iskandarl ·
Hi, I am in charge of a group of computers at a student lab and have just installed Samba as a PDC to authenticate Win98 clients. I need a way to keep track of the time that each student uses on each of the computer. I would like to have info on thetimeeach student logs on and at what time the student logs off, and sent to a centralized terminal. How do I go about doing it? Any ideas and help in this matter is deeply appreciated.

No need to assign points , go to ZD net downloads and look around to find a logger, there is a way of doing it in Windows (Read in the help files for the solutional material), but it isn't something I use as I simply use a timer if I need it ,that may be an option since it's a school setting , simply have the instructor set a timer at the workstation when booted, and when the student is finished, as timers are cheap, besides this allows the student to use their time better. Loggers should be used where the times a machine is booted are a consideration , where uptime is to be logged collectively for a particular machine , to determine the cleaning/maintenance protocol.
Have a great day.
