HP Laserjet Printer Model 5L

By f-178765 ·
I just got a used printer, HP Laserjet Model 5L and I was wondering if there is a manual reset button on this printer? Also, is there a way to turn the printer on and off?

Printer seems to powerup automatically at bootup and shut down automatically if no activity after several minutes. The only button I could find on the printer seems to print a test page and you have to unplug and replug the computer to stop the test page in cue.

You can't download the manual from HP. They will, however, be more than happy to sell you one for 17 bucks.

Hi,
everything is controlled by the Printer Driver. The powerup is as you said.

The system by default is in a powersave mode consuming 6 W.

This of course still costs us the users money and adds to greenhouse emissions - 6 watts is more than 0 watts after all.

There are no other buttons so unless the button can be held down perhaps, or quick repeat presses, there is no other actions.

Perhaps, obtaining the manual would help.

Turns out you have to hold the bottom button for 3-5 seconds until the green light flashes. I was able to find this through the HP website.
