HP Presario V2000 cooling fan failure/replacement

By makoto7 ·
My HP Presario V2000 cooling fan has failed. I wish to know how difficult is it to replace the fan? And does this fan failure indicate any related hardware which must also be replaced?

CPU fan?

hi
check here http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00444244.pdf
fan failure indicates time to replace the fan...if you do it in time it doesnt cause any other problems.
working on laptops is very fiddly but usually quite straightforward...it depends how confident/competent you are.Alternatively you should be able to get a fixed price repair from a decent PC tech
cheers!

However what is indicated here is that a Cool Pad is required so you can either look on E Bay for a cheapie or you can go to one of the better Computer Shops and buy an Antec Cool Pad like the one shown here

You need an Active one with Fan/s in it to suck the air and the dust that it contains away from the NB to prevent too much dust and other crud getting sucked into the NB and causing the vents to become partially blocked
