Hyperlinking in Word Document

By JamieK ·
I am publishing a training newsletter that I've created using Word. I save the document as HTML and am using Word as my editor. I want to link the table of contents to sections within my document to lessen the need for scrolling. I have figured out how to do this, however when I tell it to link within the document it only offers me a small choices of headings that Word has picked out. How do I get it to recognize all of my headings so that they are available in the list of places within thedocument to link it to?

Help please! If you know how to do this, I can even email you the file I'm working with so you can see what I'm trying to do.

I believe the secret to this is that you need to create a bookmark for each place you want to jump to. After you do that, they should all appear in your list. Good luck!!

Go through your document and place bookmarks to where you would like to create hyperlinks to. You can do this through Insert-> Bookmark. Then you can select each table of contents entry and do a hyperlink to the bookmark by choosing the bookmark button on the right side of the hyperlink window. Save your document as usual.

You have to set your heading's correctly.
I made a test document with 3 headings. These where set to HEADING1 under the style options. I than inserted a table refering to these HEADINGS and it automatically laid them out with page numbers. I than selected the first heading in the table of contents and inserted a hyperlink, with the document. When I click on browse there are no options available, but if you click on the hidden bookmarks option, all of your HEADINGS you set earlier will appear.i can mail you a sample file if you like.
Basically whatever you want to link too, you can boomark it, or you can use the auto formatting options available to you in word and set it as a heading which will automatically display it as a option
