I can collect email but can't browse

I have a dial-up account with Earthlink. I have not been able to access the Internet for over three months now. I can connect and collect my email no problem but cannot browse the net.

I have been calling Earthlink technical support but they can?t seem to figure it out. One of them told me it could be because my IE is corrupt.

Is there anyway I can narrow it down to IE? What is the best way to trouble shoot this?

well, this is a known bug with zonealarm firewall older versions where uninstalling it killed the internet. reinstall it to fix. (then uninstall again if you like). can you ping your dns servers?

Check that the TCP/Ip on ur dialup adapter is not configured to use a static IP, but to use DHCP.
Once connceted via dialup, can u ping your gateway and DNS?
Try installing latest SP for your OS, if available. what OS r u on?
How are you getting your mails? Is the IE Connection settings correct?
Try to connect to any ftp sites, like ftp.nai.com or something, see if it goes thro'.
Change all the IE settings to default and see if it works.
