I can't setup Windows XP Pro anymore ?

By mtolgay ·
Well it all started like this, I was defragging my HDD on Windows XP Pro, while doing this action I deceided somehow to connect my cross cable which was connected to my computer which was defragging on XP Pro to my Laptop which also runs Windows XP,what happened next was that the LAN Connection detected sign appeared in the icon box and it showed that both computers were connected with each other properly and at this point everything fell apart. My Computer running XP Pro (not the laptop) crushed, and as I restarted the computer it crushed on the Windows XP Pro bootup screen again and again on every restart. So I deceided to re-setup XP Pro what happened the XP Pro setup crushed on 30% or something like this everytime. So I deceided to setup Windows 2K Pro until this is solved, which properly installed itself on the system... So what do I have to do to run XP Pro again on my system

Have you tried the reapir a previous installion option in setup? Easy solution if you don't need to recover the data. Boot to a win 98 setup disk, use fdisk to delete the partion, then use fisk to partion & format the disk with fat 32. Then reinstall Win XP & format for ntfs.
