Identifying USB devices

By dwilliams2012 ·
How can we pull infrormation from all domain computers for USB devices that have been plugged into the system? Is the registry settings for the PCs stored within the DCs or other location on the servers?

In the local PC registry

The device IDs are all stored in the registry of the specific computer the USB device was connected to.

Look in Current Control Set / ENUM.

Once you have the device IDs, you then need a table to translate the device ID into the specific device.

We use a custom whitelist application that only allows the USB device IDs that are on the whitelist to complete the connection.

I don't have a specific recommendation, but many network based computer management programs have some ability to retrieve hardware information from the client computers on the network.
