I.E. & NT - only admin works

By nlittle ·
I have a pc with NT 4.0/sp6A & security patch installed with internet explorer 6.0. When logged in as administrator, internet explorer works as expected. When log into user account, get the cannot resolve this address page error. Nothing will comeup, not even microsoft.com, etc. Any ideas of where I'm going wrong here??

I.E. & NT - only admin works

by Joseph Moore In reply to I.E. & NT - only admin wo ...

I had the same problem on a user workstation that was upgraded to IE6. I don't know why this happened, but here is what I did to get it to work for the user.
1) Uninstalled IE6 and restored IE5
2) Added the user as a Local Administrator group member. (I added the users domain account to the local machine's Administrators group)

IE worked fine then.
Again, don't know why, but this took care of it. Weird!
