IE5 porblem

By steeleshane ·
Recently IE5.5 started giving me problems. 2-3 times a day I have to run repair to allow me to use IE5. Has anyone seen this before? I have run my virus program and have no viruses found. I recently changed from a 56k modem to a cable modem. I can still check my mail using Outlook Express. HELP!!

You've not given much info regarding OS or the nature of the problem you need to repair. If it's giving you a "Work Offline" Prompt, it's a thing with Cable modems that I've seem before.

Is your browser co-branded, like excite@home does? If so, this may be the problem right there. Whoever set up the browser with the IEAK may have hosed something up when they did it.

Tip: Just because they give you a co-branded browser, you're not obligated to use it. Doing so puts you at the mercy of the person who configured it, plus you don't know what they may have done to the security on it. Uninstall the $^@!^ thing and re-install from your OS CD or Microsoft download. also, make sure you don't get the MSN customized version of it either.

Good luck,
Tim
